We discussed goals and our role with VCI that need development and prayer.
David Diehl shared his thoughts on our GOALS:
- to provide opportunities for people to be the hands and feet of Jesus
- to facilitate developing relationships that allow for sharing our Lord’s love and grace
- to encourage spiritual growth in all that we do
Our ROLE would be
- to involve the congregation in relationship development and spiritual growth
- to develop programs and mission opportunities that encourage growth
- to evaluate all activities in relation to our church vision
- to communicate all activities and opportunities to the congregation
- to work for sustainable leadership in all long term projects
In our Outreach Ministries booklet our first page listed this:
THE OUTREACH TEAM AT FUMC OF HOLLAND ACTS AS AN ADVISORY BODY FOR THE CHURCH RELATED TO ITS OUTREACH MINISTRIES AND MISSIONS AT LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL LEVELS. OUTREACH MINISTRY HAS BEEN A FUNDAMENTAL PURPOSE OF THIS CHURCH THROUGHOUT ITS HISTORY. OUR MINISTRY OF SERVICE TO THOSE OUTSIDE OF THE CHURCH CONTINUES TO BE THE WAY WE MOST OFTEN IDENTIFY OURSELVES. IT IS OUR HOPE THAT IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY INVOLVED IN ANY FUMC OUTREACH MINISTRY, THIS INFORMATION WILL INSPIRE YOU TO CONTACT SOMEONE WHO IS. JOIN BY LENDING YOUR GIFTS, TALENTS, ENERGY AND TIME TO SHARE AND CELEBRATE GOD’S LOVE.
PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING THE OUTREACH TEAM THAT MEETS QUARTERLY.
Possible projects in the future:
- F.U.N. School with volunteers reading to kids or help with family dinner nights for F.U.N. families
- Having a game night or community picnic
- Have service days with Washington neighbors-yard, minor repairs,etc
- Habitat work day
- Short term mission trip-maybe intergenerational
- Police connection
- ESCAPE MINISTRIES – work with
